Why Diamond?

Diamond is the hardest naturally occurring substance on Earth.
It possesses many of the qualities required for industrial machining processes.
These qualities allow for extreme shaping accuracy, superior surface finishes, and effectiveness on a large number of materials.

Things to Consider

There are many factors to consider when choosing the correct diamond tool.
First and foremost is understand the type of material that your diamond tool will be used on.
Different materials require different characteristics in a cutting tool and some materials are not even diamond-friendly.
The desired end result of the process is also a major factor in what kind of diamond tool will be needed.
Here are some questions to ask yourself to help understand what kind of tool is right for your process:

  • What is the machine tool being used?

  • What is the workpiece material?

  • What are the shapes of the end product going to be?

  • What is the depth of cut needed?

  • Does the end product need to be optical quality?

  • What kind of waviness is acceptable with the end product?

  • Does the product have to be within micron, or submicron, tolerances?
Gathering as much information as possible about your end product helps greatly in determining the right tool.
